Hello there, once more. Blogging again! I must be getting good! Since I last wrote here, I have had a lovely holiday in Jersey. It was my sixteenth time there so I must like it! No, really, I love it. It’s a beautiful Island with lovely scenery, and of course, the second Thursday in August is the annual Battle of Flowers parade. Over two hours of beautifully crafted floral floats, musicians and dancers and lots of lovely sunshine. And on Friday night is the ‘Moonlight Parade’ where the floats are all dressed in pretty lights and they have a firework display. I treated myself to a lovely new digital camera this year before I went and took about three hundred photographs! If you’d like to see them, I have put some of them online and there’s a link to them from my Forum here: http://therainbowcentre.freeforums.org/viewtopic.php?t=293. You will have to register for the Forum to see them, due to the amount of spammers I’ve had recently, but you only need to give yourself a nickname and password and you’re in once your account’s been activated.
Otherwise, I’ve been busy as usual with more clients and with my writing. I’m getting back to the ‘Positively Me!’ book and workbook I’ve been writing now for a couple of years. I’m intending to get them finished soon and put in the Coffee Shop on the site where you can all buy them if you’d like.
Before I went, I had a good clear out in my wardrobe and, guess what, I found some lovely new things while I was on holiday to replace what had been thrown out! It’s nice to have clothes that I can wear and feel good in, rather than stuff I never wear clogging up the wardrobe.
I also had a bit of a ‘mental’ clear out while I was away too. Because I was away from my desk and everything here, I found it very easy to ‘switch off’. I just focused on having the best holiday ever and that seemed to be the case! Normally, I would have spent my time away wondering what was going on at home and thinking about the jobs I had to do when I got back. Not this time, precious! I just ‘chilled out’ completely. And I think it’s done me a lot of good. Everything was still alright when I got back and my new relaxed and refreshed attitude has enabled me to ‘clear the decks’ more easily and get on with new and different things in addition to the usual things I do.
Perhaps that’s what it’s all about (taking holidays I mean.) To just completely get away from things (even the things we love) for a while, can be good not only for us, but for our work as well. And I suppose the same is true for taking little breaks during the day and not flogging ourselves to death to finish something because we feel we ‘have to’. Things often go much better for a little rest and a cup of tea… In fact, that’s what I think I’ll do now! But I’ll be back… So I wish you all a wonderful, positive and uplifting time with lots of little unexpected treats and enjoyments until then.
